Descriptions

The Twin Peaks ranch is an ideal winter range cattle ranch with the perk of world class mule deer hunting. Rio Arriba county is perhaps the top producing county for B&C bucks in the west, and Twin Peaks Ranch is situated in some of the best country within that county. The ranch is comprised of 15,900 total acres, 960 deeded acres, with several sandstone rims blanketed in pion, and juniper forests that are broken up by sage flats and gramma grass draws.

Twin Peaks Ranch has amazing vistas of Colorado's La Plata Mountains to the north and the Jicarilla Indian Reservation to the south. Trophy, quality, mule deer are a product of prime deer habitat, superior genetics, and sound game management.

Twin Peaks Ranch straddles both 2B & 2C Game Management Units. Guaranteed elk tags including 1 mature bull, 1 either sex, and 1 cow, along with private land deer tags through the private land deer draw make this property very unique.

The Twin Peaks Ranch is 960 acres of deeded land, 640 acres of state leased land and 14,300 acres of BLM leased land. The ranch runs 275 pairs for 7 months, from November 1st through June 1st. Located just 6 miles off of Highway 64, this ranch is easily accessed and has good road infrastructure. The ranch has two strong wells that are powered by electric pumps. These wells feed storage tanks and pipelines which water all the pastures. The ranch also has dirt tanks and several sumps in the bottom of the Carrizo wash. Due to the shallow water table in the wash, the variety of trees drastically change near the Carrizo. Large ponderosa pines, cottonwoods, oaks, and some fir follow the contour of the rim and provide a nice variation and beautiful aesthetics to the property.
